Im talking about huge bpm difference jumps. Not 1-2bpm, that’s too simple. I’m talking about going straight electrohouse (140bpm) into hip hop 75bpm smoothly.

im not familiar with these styles.1 theory and dont quote me.djs will do gradual increments eg 75 to 90 to 105 etc.as i say only a theory as i work in the 128-140 range.

Well yeah, but sometimes the moment might require you to slam certain track. and you can’t do increments or you’ll lose this time.

I think they uses transition tunes.
There is pre-recorded transitions that changes the tempo like you describe
Some DJ record pools has those….

Maybe they know how to use beat counts to introduce a different tempo song.
    or, ha, better yet…
Maybe they don’t give a shit about beatmatching because it’s not the LAW to beatmatch. If something sounds like it’s going to be the shit together, then why not mix it? Most people are too narrow minded to think of such things. They don’t have soul/swag/the groove. I think you forgot that being able to perform means that you have to be able to read an audience.

halving it? Or close to? 70 * 2 = 140 That’s the only thing I can imagine working on a big transition and not being really noticeable. As for the not so big maybe they bumped it? Or waited for a break in the beats and took it down.

That also works on other like 2/3 (140/3*2 = 93,3 to 140) but it is to be used very delicate……
I have managed doing that for several times and people on the floor looks very funny when they find out that they are dancing in the wrong tempo :-)))) But in these cases you really need to trust your ears and concentrate.

I was wondering how can they achieve something like this, what tricks do they use? it should be simpler in traktor..but i can’t pull a 128bpm transition to a 70bpm – 110bpm.

I do it all the time… let’s say i’m playing a bangin’ electro remix, I can drop Tyga’s – Rack City right into it. Find the right spot to loop you master track (8 beats) have the cued track pitched correctly, tease the track several times by stuttering and using the hotcues for different drums, clap, and bass notes. Then blend while cutting the loop down and BAM! The crowd goes ballistic, they never saw it coming! The dance floor went from shufflin’ to wigglin’!

Usually halving (the bpm) the slower with the faster is a usual factor, it works backwards too. However I have noticed the my BPM detection is off sometimes in the software, I have to manually adjust by ear. It’s just like playing Electro to Dubstep. It’s really easy.

You mean pitching the track thats coming next? (the slower bpm one), because im using traktor, and this will sound wierd imo.

Yes, Make sure that your pitch lock is always on (keeps songs from sounding like chipmunks or screwed when making extreme pitch changes),
try to loop in a section with basslines or beats.
