S2 will never be native to vdj, however dj rethink has created a mapper and definition for it but it costs $10 from his website (google it), I have never touched either, but if you were planning on taking it to a club I’d get the S2 as its smaller, if it’s for your bedroom and friends parties I’d go for the N4 as it has 4 decks, you can use timecode with it if you want to add tables and it has bigger jogs. but it does look a bit toyish for my taste.

is traktor better than vdj anyways? or is serato best because the N4 comes with serato and yes i feel the same way about the toyish-ness of the N4 im not really a fan of that plastic feel. thank you for you feedback

I’m a self confessed fanboy of vdj as I can make it do anything I can think of and the potential is far greater than traktor, but it is potential you need to understand to unlock, although it’s not that hard… It’s really your choice… In regard to the controller it really depends on what type of mixing you want to do, make no mistake the S2 is a toy with a shelf life of about a year as well, if you don’t want to scratch your better off with a denon mc 6000/3000. but wait and see what is released after NAMM which starts tomorrow 🙂

I’d buy the Numark N4, you could use virtual dj, serato intro, or map it to traktor and has a lot of cool functions for the money, I think.

That is another reason why I’m having such a dilemma because of the flexibility of the N4 but the S2 just seems a lot more professional quality for the price and that is what ideally I’m aiming for because I do plan on playing gigs and such as well as it comes with Traktor Pro 2 and not just a limited edition software… Thank you for feedback thought I think I am still leaning toward the S2 at the moment.

Take a look at the Denon MC3000 it has top quality in all aspects and runs very well with Traktor and VDJ…..

It looks great but for my first controller I have a really tight budget I only wanted to spend 400-500 max… So that is how I narrowed it down. Plus Kontrol S2 comes with complete Traktor 2 Software and it is on sale at a store not too far from me for $529.00 US dollars. So if you had to go with something other than the Denon which looks ridiculously sweet which do you think?

In my country the S2 is more expencive than the MC3000 or about the same price.
That is why I suggested that. But if there is a big difference in price I would go for the S2.
Or an Mixtrack Pro for starters…..
