MemberDJ software I use is VDJ that came with the Hercules RMX mixer I purchased used. It’s the only DJ software I have used so far, would be pretty Kool to check out traktor and serato in the future, but for now I will concentrate on learning within VDJ.

ParticipantMy DJ software is VDJ Pro, because I’ve tried all the rest and this is one I feel most comfortable with.
Though, I must say Djay is starting to creep in somewhat.

MemberMy DJ software is Ableton Live because I prefer to use my own custom effect chains and incorporate live playing of synthesizers and samplers when I dj

MemberMy DJ software is Traktor, and this is why: because I am a badass 😀
Just kidding, I am not a badass and I use Traktor because it is flexible when it comes to mapping, offers great sound quality and the fx section is really tight and advanced.January 17, 2012 at 1:01 am #1002633VinnyBlanc
ParticipantSerato Itch. Agree with Phil, and like the stacked waveforms.
Also, library management/integration.

MemberVDJ Pro,
It is the most customisable complete software out there, and I have an obsession making it do things it’s not supposed to do LOL. not much else really needs to be said because nothing else compares to the freedom it gives you to set it up exactly the way you want it.
Although, when i play out I don’t really use effects, samples etc… I just play choons, but it’s fun using creative thought to make it all work.

ParticipantI use Denon Music Manager to create waveforms and music libraries to get my USB drives to be faster in my Denon S3700s
This software sux because it does only work with PC! I hope and think Denon will make DMM 2.0 this year so that it works with Mac and that it is possible to link 2 media players together….I also use Traktor 2 scratch pro so that I can use it with my spare setup MC6000 and my S3700’s if I want.
Traktor because it is more or less the standard in Sweden and the alternatives that works with MC6000 and S3700/X1700
has no advantages IMO
The cons with this is that it is very timeconsuming if you want to get the most out of it.
Beatgrid in T2 is a real pain in the a%¤ and I hope NI will get it better in T3 some day….Maybe I will be ready to go with my music in Traktor before 2013 and then give it a try on a smaller party gigg…..

ParticipantI was about to post a new thread but I don’t know whether it’s appropriate to put it here.
I finally took the plunge and bought a Mixtrack Pro. A few teething problems setting it up but I’m there now. It came with Serato and Traktor LE.
I’d previously downloaded Virtual DJ, the free edition for use with the keyboard. I liked the way I could beatmatch easily using the display (I know I need to use my ears but for now there is so much going on I need all the help I can get).
Once I was up and running I wasn’t so mad on using Traktor so I looked into purchasing Virtual DJ from their website. I saw three price points and as I’m new to this I thought I would start off at the lowest level just to get started.
I had an online chat with one of the Virtual DJ guys who advised that the only version that will recognise my controller is the Full Pro which looks like it will cost £200.00. At the moment I just want to see what I can do with the Mixtrack Pro and if I feel more confident to DJ “professionally” then great. I’m looking to dip my toe in the water not jump in to the sea!
Am I stuck with Traktor and versions thereof? I think the cheapest upgrade of Traktor is £100.00. Kind of kicking myself that I didn’t a) check which software came with the controller and b) check what my upgrade options are.
So to answer the original question my DJ software is Traktor because it came with my controller. 😉

ParticipantYou can download/try Serato DJ Intro for free from http://www.serato.com (if it did not come with it)
Also if you could get a hold of VIRTUAL DJ LE (that will also recognize your controller)January 17, 2012 at 4:54 pm #12935squeeam

Also if you could get a hold of VIRTUAL DJ LE (that will also recognize your controller)Cheers for the reply. I’ve looked into getting Virtual DJ LE from eBay and some DJ equipment shops but it only seems to be bundled with the controller. I know it’s sold with the American version but for some reason the European version is bundled with Traktor.
Unless somebody knows where I can get hold of it (pleeeeeeease).

I’d “look” around.
Err, is there anywhere I should “look” in particular?

MemberMy DJ software is Mixxx, and this is why: Well, first, it’s free and open source! The forums are good, and you can get help from the developers and other users, as well as suggest features and everything. And with the latest version, there’s beatgridding, microphone support, sample decks, and those little spinning platter things like in virtual dj (those are fun)
For power users, there’s support for any midi controllers, pretty much all DVS systems, up to 32 hot cues, and a crazy good scripting engine that lets you do all kinds of neat stuff with your controller.
The only downside for me is that the only effect is a flanger 🙁January 19, 2012 at 3:56 am #13005Wayne Postlewaight
ParticipantOtsAV is the one for me and has been for years. Why so? very stable, does karaoke and video – This software is perfectly matched with my Denon HC-4500 controller & Denon DN-X500 mixer.
UPDATE: now using DJAY with a Numark iDJ Pro controller more so now (was my backup) – very stable and looks professional and is lightweight. A great mixing console.

Since the 80’s I have always made Mix Tapes and later CD’s for my friends wanted to take my mixes to the next level. I was frustrated with Nero 8 Wave edito, so on a whim I bought EJay Virtual DJ at Best Buy, I later graduated to VDJ 6 home edition. I started getting asked to DJ parties and bought a Numark DMC2 that came with CUE (a lousy version of VDJ) and out of frustration I upgraded to VDJ Pro 6 (now 7) and never regretted it.I looked at other software, especially the software the “Real DJ’s” using (like Tracktor and Serrato), but VDJ:
1. Syncs & beat matches seamlessly
2. Saves my playlists and set history
3. Sounds great through my mixer and JBL IONS
4. Pairs with my controller, soundcard and mixer with no issues
5. Plays and mixes Video through a separate outputs for great VDJ sets
6. Plays with or without a controller
7. Updates for free! That said, I am ready to move on. I really want to start playing around with Abelton Live, I have completely out grown my current set up, and may be transitioning to Itch to be able to finally transition to Abelton.

InactiveMy DJ Software is Traktor Scratch Pro and here is why…last year I needed a new mixer and ended up getting the Traktor Kontrol S4. I love the S4, but I prefer Torq over Traktor, however I’ve never tried Serato and would love to try it.
