    He can plug the headphones into the computer to listen to the main output just as it would play through the laptop speakers. There are cheap soundcards (zalaman 5.1 surround) he can get to stay in his budget.

    Without a second soundcard, they won’t be able to hear the main output and preview-cue the next track at the same time.

    Would the Behringer UCA202 work?

    No the Behringer card wouldn’t work as you need a 4-out soundcard. He could buy a DJ splitter cable and the Mixtrack for a cheap, temporary solution while he saves for a decent soundcard like the NI Audio 2.

    Is there any splitter cable in specific that is better? I know its kind of stupid but who knows. Or any cable will just do?

    A generic Radio-Shack splitter should do the trick. Just make sure it is in fact a mono-splitter.
