ParticipantFor using Loops cue point juggling and such…i suggest using Traktor…best Software out there for that type of application. You can download a 30 day trial of Traktor Pro 2 from the Native Instruments website.
Within Traktor there is options to Quantize and snap your tracks so when u set a loop it automatically snaps it to the bpm of the song, and at the beginning of the beat making looping super easy.

Memberhere you go, I answered it on the vdj forum
http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/153008/Mix_lessons/Looping.htmlyou can also quantise the size of the loops in vdj, it’s called “smart loop”, there is a picture of a lock on the skin near the loop out button, but it only works when using loop in and loop out, if you use the automatic sizes they are the perfect size anyway..

MemberThanks for the answers above. I actually took Hee Won Jung’s advice and spent some time learning traktor, got hooked, and bought the pro version a few weeks ago. I made the switch because I like the sample decks and the ability to save loops.
The quantize and snap features work well in traktor once i have a correct beatgrid in place.
I was able to set proper loops in VDJ; the approach I would use on an outro was to first set the loop size, usually 16 or 32 beats, then trigger a cue point which would move the whole loop of the set size to start at the cue point. I could them synch the next track and ramp over to it.
Traktor doesn’t work that way; if you set a loop size, then trigger a cue point, the loop is deactivated when you jump to the cue point. However since you can save loops as well as cue points in traktor, i work around this by saving pretty much everything as a loop of 32 beats, then i deactivate the loop if i wanted a cue to that point instead.
One gripe with traktor however – when the beatgrid is correct, bpm constant through the track, things are great. When the beatgrid drifts throughout the track, beatmatching by ear requires switching off snap and quantize and setting synch to bpm only not phase. I’d like to create a function to do all that in one shot. Virtual DJ seems to work better for me when the beatgrid isn’t perfect. This may be because i’m new to traktor and haven’t figured out a better way to deal with this yet.

ParticipantI do not keep snap and quantize on during my sets and only use it when i am doing cue point juggling to keep everything in sync. I as well do not use the sync button at all unless i am wanting to drop a track right on point rather than slowly bringing it in…so my sync button is set to sync on hold and does not sync when i release the button.
I am a firmly against using Sync during my sets but it is nice to have for those situtations when you get distracted or some ninny is trying to talk to me while i am playing my set.
IMO it doesnt matter what you do…nothing beats a good set of ears

Memberthe novation dicers work perfect with serato for loops as they are native to serato and set loops per beat count based on which button i press … the loop is instant and always on time…. you can also set cuses on the fly and as u cut back to your cue point (the start of the loop) you can start the loop in/out.. to be honest im kinda ocd about my music so every time i add new tracks.. i analyse them then set/save the new loops… the dicers are nice though as the loop on the fly is nice addition when im fresstylin with other djs or doing dj change overs
