    There’s lots of good stuff out there. Haven’t heard the Pioneers yet (not a big Pioneer fan, so never felt “the urge”).

    KRK Rokit 5s should be on your shortlist. Good price, good performance.

    One thing you might want to reconsider is getting 6″ instead of 5″. It might make the difference between needing a sub (5″) or not (6″).

    Are you in the uk mate if you are, I ve just taken the plunge on some krk’s rp6’s. But to keep the cost down I found these in a sale. These are the g2’s and the same price as the rp5’s g3’s. Basically I’m on the version behind but saved £80 on the RP6 g3’s. I have not heard the new ones but very happy with what i got for the money.

    Quite frankly, I don’t think there will be too much exciting new stuff in the later generations. Perhaps a slightly better (tuned) filter, more appealing design, slightly improved amp.

    But if you stay in the same price bracket, you are gonna get about the same as you got before. No room to go to next level components.

    I would buy a generation older on speakers any day of the week. Unlike controllers, speakers are in a very mature phase of product development. They get better with new versions (no matter how marginally perhaps), but the differences will be way smaller than with controllers.

    Hi Guys,

    Cheers for the feedback/advice.

    @rory
    jones i am in the uk yes mate, i think we are on the same wavelength because after reading what DJ Vintage wrote i was looking at the KRK RP6 and 8,s G2 editions which i can get at a bit of a cheaper price than the later G3,s.  @ (http://www.djshop.co.uk)

    Not really looking to include a sub in my set-up DJ Vintage so im now thinking pay the extra for  8″ monitors and ill get a great overall sound..

    Cheers guys..

    You are welcome. Be sure to look at both. I think the 6’s are still suitable sitting where they should, next to your monitors in an equidistant triangle with your head at the tip. High ends should be slightly above ear height and aimed slightly down at your ears. I am sure you can appreciate how 8’s would be rather bulky and block out all the sunlight us DJ’s love so much!

    Seriously though. 8″ is pretty darn big. If you don’t mind and have the space, by all means go for it. With my style of working I wouldn’t need a sub either and 6s would do. If I were unsure, I’d still go for 6s and if I decided I need more umph, I’d get a sub (10″) after all.

    Like I said, lot of it is personal choice, it pays to look at both closely somewhere, rather than be shocked when the boxes arrive!

    My mate has a set of the 8s, even he says they are overkill and he loves it banging  lol

    Not much difference in G2 to G3 for me hearing wise… I still use my 6s G2 and do not feel I need to upgrade.
