    Hi Giant Steps,

Welcome to the forums. Love ambition so be sure to keep chasing your dreams.

Don’t get too pinned down on having “a set that will work”. DJ-ing is not about having a fixed list of tracks that you know how to mix together flawlessly, but to be able to have enough music you know so that you can read the crowd and pick the next record that will fit the mood and direction of the crowd best. Better to split into two parts, one being building a nice music collection that is well-organised (i.e. tags set, bpm set, key set (if you use that), beatgrids set, cues and loops set) and the other learning the ways to mix two records together. Then you can do both on the fly and don’t have to worry about a “set”. By all means keep a set as a basis to start from, the advice here is to not make it set in stone.

Especially if you want to become resident someday, they will NOT appreciate hearing the same songs (and even less so in the same order) every night you play.

Good luck and keep up informed about your progress and your going out to play live!

    Greetinx.

Hellow and welcome to the forum,

I say go with your plan B, get you a daytime job, and make you DJ as a hobby, that way your daytime job can support your hobby, then who knows in the future you can make a profit from your hobby too !

    Hey and welcome!

Yes currently go with Plan B, if you take off as a DJ you can always opt for Plan A later.
