Compatibility should not be an issue, nor should taking it with you be. After all, it’s hobby gear and you are going to be spending a lot of time away from home right? Just make sure you take the receipt/invoice for your kit, so you can always prove you had it when returning home. Otherwise you run the risk of having to import it! The same is true if you buy there. I think you have to own something 6 months before you can bring it into your home country without import tax being an issue. So if you go the “buy something there” – route, you’d better buy it directly after you get there and be sure to save the invoice. Also find out about sales tax. If you order from a state other than the state you’ll be residing in, you don’t have to pay sales tax (or less, not quite sure what the exact rules are nowadays). So another little save there. Do check what happens if you take it out of the country after 8 months. I believe you will be good to go and won’t have any problems. But check before you travel.

Finally, be sure to pack the controller well if you put it into your luggage/suitcase. Or get a specialized backpack or even flightcase (might end up paying a little extra for odd luggage, but it will keep your gear in one piece).

    Greetinx and enjoy your stay!
