Maybe a good idea to tell us what goal you are trying to achieve.

Both don’t fit in a DJ setup, they are live sound mixers. The USB bit is only useful for recording (usually 2 channels or master) or to play back a stereo signal from a PC.

You are on Digital DJ Tips forum after all and these mixers are neither digital nor DJ.

So, tell us the reason you are looking at these and we might be able to give you so more advice.

    Hello DJ Vintage,

I’m am a 14-year-old who just wants to be a bedroom DJ that occasionally performs at various functions, So I cannot afford too Hi-Fi gear. I would say that my budget is roughly around 100$. That also is for the full setup, not just for the mixer/soundcard. Can you please explain the difference between a live sound mixer and a DJ mixer?

What I am basically looking for is a setup which will help me to remix and edit some songs, record new ones and help play these live. I found that these ones are my best bet if I am to buy a good pair of speakers as well. I really appreciate your help, thanks a lot.

    Hey,

Here at DDJT we specialize in digital DJ-ing. Which, for most of our readers (except the ones that still like turntables and use DVS), means that you use a computer/laptop with a DJ controller. You can get a DJ controller for about 100 dollar, but it will be very basic. It will have two “players” and a “2-channel mixer” bit integrated. All you need extra is a set of speakers and a laptop/pc. Obviously the speakers cost money as does the software (unless you make do with the LE version of whatever the software comes with).

I doubt if you can make an entire setup for 100 USD though. Might have to look at used stuff.

You can use various software on the computer/laptop to “remix” songs that you can then play in your DJ software with your controller.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you DJ Vintage,

Could you suggest some models for me please?

Can I also use a MIDI keyboard controller with the DJ software like traktor of virtual dj pro?

    Hey.

No, hard to give advice as controllers are such a personal choice. The Controller Buyer Guide 2014 is the best place to find lots of information in one place. And there is new stuff coming out every day too.

You could even consider looking into an iPad solution.

If it’s midi, you can probably map it. However, if it will give you the real DJ experience is something I doubt. But I guess it beats keyboard shortcuts on a PC/Laptop.
