Highly personal choice. As has been said on here many times before. Figure out what goal you want to achieve, then make a list of all the things that are important and necessary to reach those goals. Then check what software offers you the best workflow for your ambitions and finally make a list of features a bit of kit needs to have to support that workflow (and here you can let the available budget weigh in). That’s the moment to look at and test a select number of hardware options.
Going at this from the hardware angle because something is a certain price or has a certain appeal (lights, buttons, jogs, brand name, whatever), has a higher potential to lead to disappointment.
So, first know WHAT you want in general, then specifically what you want/need in a controller. When you have your shortlist finished, you might find that a new Numark within your budget is the best bet or maybe something second hand because it has the better features.
