More details would be helpful. How are you plugging everything in?

It sounds to me that you are trying to have passive speakers attached to your controller (perhaps those computer speakers?).

You need either active speakers (with an amplifier built in) or a seperate amplifier with two passive speakers. The output of any mixer/soundcard is not strong enough to power speakers directly.

Like Mista say, give us more details on brand/type of speakers you are trying to get sound from.
