Just finished another night on my MC6000 (the 4-deck predecessor to the MC3000) and although many will consider it (out)dated, it is just a very well built, reliable piece of equipment, that looks professional (using the 19″rackmount in a case with sliding laptop platform) and works very well.
It’s easy to get sidetracked and be led to feature-shopping when going for new gear.
Questions to ask yourself before buying:
1) do I really need something new (I look at new stuff from time to time, but there is no real reason to actually buy something. The current gear is fully functional and will be for many years to come).
2) What features do I absolutely need (like standalone mixing – which was a deciding factor for me when I bought the MC6000), what is an absolute bonus and what is “nice to have’. Once you have that listed, make a shortlist, try to play with your top-2 or 3 choices and then pick what suits your best.
Good luck,
Chuck
