ParticipantTo be honest, if it’s not full metal construction build. I neglect it. But the Pioneer DDJ-SX is fantastic, and if I can recall correctly, the DDJ-SR is practically the same thing, only two channels instead of four (I personally don’t need four channels, to be honest).
Skepticism is smart. Go on YouTube and look at reviews.

ParticipantI haven’t made the plunge and gone for it, but from what I’ve seen it looks VERY nice. I would go for it if you had the chance, but obviously other people will have other opinions.

KeymasterWell I had some hands on time with the DDJ-SR and it does not even compare to the Ergo. They are 2 totally different leagues of controllers. The Ergo I agree feels like a toy and looks like a lightshow (yes the ladies love it).
The SR feels like a pro-grade controller (much like the SX) with a little downgraded mixer section and no standalone capabilities. Apart from that it feels great is easy to use, works awesome with Serato and you can mix like on CDJs with loads more of added features. I personally like the SR very much.

ParticipantI’m looking into upgrading to the DDJ-SR…. wondering how much I’ll miss the lit center in the jog… also wondering about the Mic channel, is it better than the supposedly problematic SX? I have a Mixtrack Pro 2 and hope to outgrow it this winter(almost wish I’d have gotten MC2000), I’ll have some time to look into the SR and full Serato DJ program… hoping the SR gets more user reviews and videos over the next few months…

ParticipantAlso thinking of upgrading to the DDJ SR from a Mixtrack Pro (Using VDJ). Does the SR work well with VDJ or am I better running with the Serato? I’m a Progressive / Deep House spinner.
Sadly the SX is out of my budget range for now, but this looks to be a very good unit.

ParticipantI haven’t got the SR …..YET…LOL But unless you’re really invested in VDJ, like really used to it and have the full version, I would say the SR would be better used with Serato DJ…. it’s made for Serato, layout/design is set up to use Serato DJ, and it comes with the full version… I used VDJ home for a little while, just messing around, and I really love Serato Intro… can’t wait to outgrow it and get the full version, with the SR… for now, I’m considering a Denon MC2000 for something a little more gig friendly, as I have yet to be to a point where Intro is really holding me back at all… and I’d like to have the smaller sized controller, even in the future when I have more “pro” gear… basically, instead of upgrading software, I’m upgrading hardware, then later when I have $ for the hardware that will benefit most from the new software, I’ll have both… I think I can still learn a great deal more with Serato Intro…. Thanks to all on DDJT… hope to hear more input on the DDJ-SR …..

KeymasterWhat Mic problems on the SX? I did not have any…

ParticipantAfter some signficant delays I finally got my DDJ-SR at the weekend and I have to say it’s an excellent piece of kit. The build quality is great (it’s actually heavier than I expected). The jogs are smooth but with a bit of weight behind them (if that makes sense) and the performance pads don’t click like a few other controllers I’ve tried.
Personally I couldn’t see much of a reason to pay the extra £300+ for the SX as the additional features didn’t really interest me. Despite using CDJs quite extensively recently I don’t miss the jog LED centre, have never needed 4 channels and don’t need to hook up loads of other kit.
I’m happy to answer any questions or try things out on it if it would help anyone make a decison.

ParticipantPlease let us know if the output volume is good, especially the cue volume. Also wondering about the mic channel, does it sound good, I have read about quite a few folks having issues with mics on the SX… also, wondering if that has been fixed on the newer SX models. I like them both, hard choice… glad I have lots to learn on the mixtrack pro 2 and DJ Intro…

ParticipantDoes it come with full serato out of the box?

KeymasterYes the SR does come with Serato DJ.

ParticipantHi SCF. I’ve found all the output volumes to be very good, but then this is pretty subjective and depends how sensitive your hearing is! If this is a really important factor then testing the controller in a store is definately recommended.
The mic quality is also good with no problems – so perhaps it has been fixed since the issues with the SX as you suggest.

ParticipantI have had my SX for almost a year and never had a mic issue. Though I do remember seeing something about it. Honestly I have never had an issue. As for the SR. My friend has one and I tried it out it has a nice build quality just like the SX just in a more compact package.
And if there was an issue with the mic it appears it was fixed with one of the updates I did not have mine at release I bought it3 months later I guess.
