Surely since you want to open up a Professional DJ Business, especially for a wedding and such, you not just relying on just you laptop and just a mixer right ?, you need at least some kind of DJ controller to control your laptop, and most DJ Software integrated very well with Itunes, such as like you mentioned Virtual DJ, and of course Traktor

I guess, I’m not exactly sure what a DJ Controller is / for….  I thought that is what Virtual DJ was for.

Ok, so a DJ Controller basically boosts the output of the laptop and give me more inputs and outputs and the ability to preview music from other sources.

Can you recommend one? I don’t want top end but don’t want cheap either.

I agree if you want to do this for a mobile business and DJ weddings and parties, a simple laptop and a mixer is not enough. Unless you only DJ for cheap weddings and have no interest in making the wedding the best day in the life of the couple.

I take DJing for weddings very seriously as I feel it is my responsibility to do this professionally and to make it the best day I can for the wedding couple. This does not only include a large music library (legally obtained), but also good mixing skills AND good entertainer skills. As you will be required to entertain and moderate in most cases. You will need a good quality PA system, good lighting and wireless microphones to do so. For more info refer to our wedding DJ guide above which is top notch and spot on.

As for iTunes. I still use iTunes to make playlists and organise my music. The iTunes playlist will simply be displayed in my DJ software whether it be VDJ, Serato or Traktor.

I’ve been DJing weddings and corporate events as my full time gig for over a year now – with the help of Digital DJ Tips! I recommend all the free courses – and the 21st Century Wedding DJ is pure GOLD if you really want to get into the business quickly.

    Good luck!
