First of all check when running Serato DJ there is a small CPU meter in the upper right corner. Does it get all red when it blips?

Do you have any bluetooth devices connected when you DJ that are low battery (so the Mac always tries to find it again and wastes its resources)?

Do you have any other programs running that use your disk a lot?

Is your harddrive OK overall? (Run a check in the harddisk utility or try DiskWarrior)

These are the first things that spring to mind.

Cheers Terry, i have done all the obvious things like bluetooth/airport switched off etc.

No other Apps running and nothing else connected. I will check my hard disk out later, it HAS only got about 5% free space on the drive though! Could that be a factor?

That could indeed be a factor. OS X runs considerably slower when the drive has less than 10% free space (especially on smaller disks like 250 GB and lower).

    250gb? I only have a mere 160gb 🙁

I cleared out a bit lastnight and got 19/20gb free space. I think i still had one drop out? I say “think” because if it was, it was no way near as bad as previous ones. Think i need a bigger drive, what a ball ache that is!

    Thanks again Terry

    Sean.

You are most welcome buddy. Try getting a 7200 rpm drive or an SSD if you can afford it (and if it fits).

Yeh i am looking at a 7200rpm 1TB, that should sort it out.

    Sean.
