Be sure to check out the controller buyers guide by Phil. There are many, many controllers to choose from. There are quite a few that would fit the bill of being a good beginner to intermediate controller. Don’t expect to find beginner to full-fledge all-out pro controller in one device though.
I am a big Denon fan and their MC2000 is a pretty decent starter to intermediate controller. But the same goes for many others I am sure you will get advice on.
In all honesty, it’s hard to pick the right controller when you just started. So you might be better off getting a good starter controller (the MC2000 does qualify :D) and move to a more “stage-ready” model when you know what it is you are looking for in a controller.
