Well for both to work you need some licensed gear and timecode CDs first…
Then it totally depends on which licensed gear you get what result you get.

Yeah well I was thinking to get a setaro sl1 box and scratch live, but then im leaning more towards traktor now as it seems like I can map more features to the mixer, such as the eqs) so I take it I could use scratch pro 2 with an audio 8 interface? And obviously the timecode cds. Would this enable me to use the mixer externally do you know, so that I dont have to map the mixer? Thanks

Both Serato and Traktor with the soundcards you mentioned work exactly the same way and both would use the mixer externally.

Great thanks! I think I would go for traktor scratch a6, again down to the low budget, thanks for your help!

And to make your choice easy. Serato is dropping the Scratch live and are only going to work on Serato DJ from now on and the SL1 will not be supported with Serato DJ.

Yeah think I will be going down the traktor route, seems easier and cheaper too!

The best software you could use is VirtualDj, because they have HID integration with the CDJ-700, you would only need a mapping for them and you could get a dual deck mapping for each deck, which would enable you to control 4 decks, and if I’m not mistaken the DDM4000 also has an internal soundcard for you to route the 4 decks to each channel and control the mixer in external mode.

You could use the same setup with Traktor, but you will not have HID integration, so expect some issues when using the jogwheel.

The ddm 4000 dosent have a soundcard but thanks for the suggestion, I have played around with vdj, I do prefer the feel of serato or traktor though
