I’m using traktor so I can’t speak for your serato, but I would say it’s a good oppertunity to learn to beatmix manually 🙂

oh, and if you can’t find out the issue, it might actually be your computer.

I currently use an extreemly dissapointing Acer laptop for my dj’ing, and everytime I take it to a gig, I have to end Windows explorer, so it doesn’t mess up. if I don’t, it’ll go crazy and unsync, guit or mute traktor :S

make shure your computer is alright 🙂

I use Serato DJ, not Scratch, but assume they have a lot of similarities.

It would be useful to know exactly what steps you are taking and what hardware you are using.

If the tracks are running at the same BPM it should be a case of cueing off and then fine tuning the cued track to make sure the beats are completely in synch. If they sound like they are on the headphones, but when you cross fad they are way off – you may have some kind of lag occurring somewhere. I experienced this when I tried to run DJ Intro through Audacity to record on my PC due to poor soundcard.

Not sure that you should have that issue normally though.

Also, when you say that are not synching – do you mean they are out of time when you cross fade and when you nudge them into time they stay in time? Or something different?

I believe that where I placed my cue points are incorrect. Also the tempo changes throughout the songs making it difficult to sync the songs and causing my mixes to be off a bit.

Hi Im Using scratch live and I Would Like to learn how to mix my songs by “Key”. I have the program Mixed In Key and I Analyze all my songs in this program . It Gives Me the energy level, tempo, and Key, But if i were to mix Two Songs ,one of them being “6A” and another Being “6B”, They wouldn’t mix perfectly because their bpm’s are different . Can You Tell Me What Im Doing Wrong ???

    @michael
: what are those two bpm’s at ? If its one song at 128bpm and the other one is at 100 bpm, yeah you would had some problem,
The rule of thumb for bpm is +/- 10 bpm between two songs, unless if its divisible by factor of 2, or multiply by factor of 2 then its ok too…

    Song A @ 120 bpm
    Song B @ 130 bpm
The difference is +/- 10 bpm, dats ok

    Song A @ 70 bpm
    Song B @ 140 bpm
Divisible / multiply by factor 2, its fine too

most sets are of a similar genre and the tracks have more or less the same speed. eg i was mixing minimal tech house – thats around 123- 127. were talking about a difference of about maximum 4%.
my rule of thumb is, if its more than minus 4% on A and plus 4% on B than use should get a different track. that means in extreme cases you have around 8 % which is more or less ten bpm (120- 130 bpm).

Also Im using Mixed in Key to analyze all my songs to find the Bpm Tempo and key.And After I Finish Analyzing them in Mixed In Key & I also analyze them in Scratch Live. Now my Question is when analyzing the songs is it mandatory that i use a bpm range ? Also Im Analyzing R&B,Soul,Reggae,Soca,Disco,Jazz ,and House Music.
