Start out in bars where the music is not as loud. Make friends, go to a club…
I often go to clubs alone to spot them out. Much less distraction, you can enjoy the music and get the vibe of the club, watch how things are done and have some nice drinks while at it.

I have friends with varied musical tastes and lifestyles. So going to clubs is not top of their minds. I do prefer to go alone. I get to check different clubs and DJs as I wish without worrying if my friends are bored. Plus you get to meet new people and learn what they like about the music being played. And share a few shots of course 😉

Heh, I hope it’s not weird to dislike going to movies, bars or clubs alone then.
Making the right music loving friends is the tough part for me. I never was much of a social butterfly at college. Didn’t go clubbing or partying in college and got the least applause from my major’s graduation ceremony lol

My interest in DJing picked up in the later years. I always stuck closer to high school friends even though now a lot of them have moved out of state or got married. So I literally am starting from zero, my old friends are just there to hang out but won’t push me into the DJing scene I want to be a part of.

Some people have suggested volunteer in interest groups. So I’m looking to see if there are any local DJ schools or workshops where I can volunteer my time to and meet other DJs.

I would say ‘break the mold’ go out alone, I know your not comfortable doing it but… If you push yourself out of your comfort zone you will find you adapt quickly and what better place to meet people interested in the scene ? As others above have said, go to the club with a view on scouting the place out, listen to the tunes and watch the dancefloor reactions, watch the DJ’s and maybe pick up some tips maybe even ask a couple of sensible questions. The world is your oyster my friend so go and grab what you want !
