There is a write up on Native Instruments Forums about USB 3.0 issues you may want to check out. When I switched to digital recently I went with an S2 and F1 and have never been happier.

the USB 3.0 compatibility issues with controllers can be sorted by buying a powered USB 2.0 hub and plug the hub into the usb 3.0 on laptop then plug controller into the hub…..also i’ve seen posts on here by terry the moderator who has the reloop terminal mix 4 and he has no problems using that controller connected to usb 3.0

Indeed, however I heard some users having problems with the same controller and USB 3.0.
So I do not know why it works for some and not for others (also I am on a Mac) and hence just to make sure I currently DJ with my older MacBook which has USB 2, so I get no problems during a gig.

I did not get any clear confirmation if the USB 3 problems are solved or not by manufacturers and/or driver companies.
The USB 2 hub workaround seems to work for anybody and is currently the only 100% reliable solution.

I tried a powered usb hub and i tried the official adapter, niether of them did the job. So as stated above i sold the numark for a good price and now i’m looking for a new controller. Any Advice?? 🙂

It could just be a simple case of who makes the motherboard of the laptop to whether a controller will work on the USB 3.0 ports or not……maybe Asus boards work and intel and MSI have the problems, or vice versa, so it would be good to research which make and model of laptops work ok and which do not.

I’m still not sure what controller i should buy. I’m thinking of buying the Denon MC3000, but i also like the S2. I’ll leave the usb 3.0 issue because that’s something i have to find out myself, right now i’m only looking for controller advise. How about the American Audio VMS 2? Reloop Terminal Mix 2? Behringer CMD Studio 4A? So much controllers!
Who can narrow my search and give me some advice?

coming from the omni control any of the ones listed should do just fine.

mc3000, S2, Terminal Mix 2 are all decent devices. Also check out the Novation Twitch, if you play mainly EDM and don’t need jogwheels. I personally would go with the Twitch out of the 4. If you wanna stick to Traktor, the S2 of course integrates very tightly, but I’d say both MC3000 and TM2 are better made than the S2. So it depends a bit on what u r looking for, so maybe you should be more specific 🙂

Problem is that i never could use The omni control The way i wanted because of some mapping issues. So i was forced to use sync button for example and never used The jogs. However i really want to learn it The proper way so it wont be The twitch. I mainly play EDM and sometimes a little top40 but i focus on EDM. What im looking for is a controller that will be suitable for both bedroom use and small gigs. I prefer traktor above other software but thats mainly because i never used other software. Ive read some reviews and i think The denon mc3000 could be a great deal due to The discount. The S2 is The most expensive of them but i dont know if its worth The extra money because im not a very skillfull dj, i still Have a lot to learn, but im still young enough to do so. But because of that i AM looking for The best price/value because its a lot of money for me. Well, i hope this says enough about me and my search for a new controller. Thanks for The tips so far and if you want to know more, feel free to ask!
    Regards,
    Kevin

After factoring in those additional details frankly I’d still go with the Twitch!
First of all: You can learn and do proper beatmatching on it, no matter what some people who’ve never owned or used one tell you. With the touchstrips you can nudge a track in phase just as you can with jogs.

What’s so cool about the Twitch? It’s big bang for the buck, just what you’re looking for! You can cover all the basics, but you won’t outgrow it soon either because with the layers of pad controls you get loads of “performance controls” to have fun with. You can use it for 4 decks (or 2 track decks + 2 sample decks) in Traktor and in the near future you can also check out the full version of Serato DJ.
It’s a small footprint w/o feeling as busy as the MC 3000, it’s reliable and durable. All at a good pricepoint.
I’d at least give it a try!

If it’s not for you I’d forego the tighter integration of the S2 abd go for the Denon. Sturdier build, smaller footprint and more controls (eg layers for controlling more than 2 decks).

So based on your opinion it’s between the twitch and the denon? Although i love the looks and the features of the S2 i’m sure i won’t buy one because it is much more expensive. But if i had the extra money, would it be worth it compared to the other controllers i mentioned? What i like about the denon is that is has great reviews on the forum and it seems to have a lot of features for a great price. Are there any new controllers worth waiting for? So far i’m considering buying the denon or the S2, and maybe the twitch as an outsider. Thanks for the help so far!

Wouldn’t be worth it to get the S2 IMO, and I’ve owned one. It’s nice, but like the S4 I find it heavily overpriced for the quality of the units. If u look around the internet it seems to me that 2/10 people don’t experience any problems abd the rest gets major wear and tear after comparably short amounts of time. My S2 was already having issues after mere 6 months of usage, not even gigging!

Plus I personally feel that Twitch allows me more control over Traktor.

But in the end it depends on your workflow and the features that are most important to YOU. Only real way to solve this, instead of going through it in your head time and time again (we’ve all been there, lol) is to get ur hands dirty and on these controllers to try them out!!
