If I would invest $400 or so today I would get a Novation Twitch. Yes, no job wheels but maybe those days or an absolute must to have them are over.

thanks for the reply..have looked at the twitch and it seems a bit clever for me!! im a track to track dj with a few effects here and there…does look good though and within my price range..

am just reading the digital guide to mixers but i cant find a review of the rmx 2 anywhere!1

The RMX2 is brand new, that is basically why.
However if you just want to get into blending and small time mixing, I would think about the Mixtrack Pro or Reloop Beatmix.

thanks for the replies terry 42, much appriciated, the more i look at it though the more Novation Twitch is becoming attractive!!

I just dont like virtual dj though!! i have a copy that i downloaded off the website and it is very unstable doesnt record properly and crashes constantly and the thought of having to pay out for a full version is not very appealing which i why DJused is handy for me!! As for ‘mapping’ the controls..i cant even use ‘word’ so i would have no chance!!!!

do you know when phil will be reviewing the rmx2 by the way?

    thanks

does the novation come with a inbuilt soundcard?

Yes, however the soundcard, while good quality, is a bit weak for some people (aka not very loud) and so sometimes needs a boost or a good secondary mixer before going into a PA. Some also complain about low headphone volumes.
This is reports from users on our site, I had no problem, but I used it only with my monitors which are very good and did not play live with it.

These controllers are quite different in what workflow they provide to you… maybe you should first try to make up your mind on the workflow you desire and the software you will want to use?

thats a good point..im like a kid in a sweetshop. I want to mix, have some fun, throw some effects in now and again. But basicaly just mix with a mixer that has a bit of meat to it. Im no sasha and dont intend to be..just a bit of bedroom bedlam..few mixes for the gym, missus..mates..nothing major.
Not really going to get into mapping, or major reworking of tracks.

As for software, like i said before with the trouble ive had with Virtual DJ home edition i dont really trust it now so DJused is good enough for me..i would like to try traktor to see if i like it.

Hmm Traktor is also not the most easy of softwares to use, but you can download a demo version for free.
If you like to keep it simple you can always go with a Serato DJ Intro Controller (Mixtrack pro, Terminal Mix, N4,…) and later if you want more upgrade to Serato DJ.
Serato is the most “plug and play” software out there.

Can just add regarding the Novation Twitch (which i own)

I was by no mean the kinda person that would rework tracks and was not really sure about it either as it was missing the Jogs.. But now its a different thing.. the Twitch just makes you wanna do these things, i often find myself playing around with acapellas, beats and loops, its just that you cant leave all the buttons now that they are there.. and i absolutely love it.. Serato is a good piece of software although i would like a better mapping for it for Traktor. Might have to bite it and try and make one. Or wait till Serato DJ comes for it, that might change the whole thing u know.

And for the Jog Wheels.. no need for them unless you wanna scratch 🙂 the strip is so easy to work with.

thanks buffaz…i since narrowed my list down which was getting stupidly large!! Novation twitch or the traktor s2. What worries me is that to upgrade serato itch i have to pay $199 which is what..£120ish-£130. Where as the s2 come with all the software..and so does the rmx2…This is one of the point which points me to one off these 2 controllers..i just want somethin i can use and i dont have to upgrade for extra money..

can you record with serat itch by the way?

    thanks

Serato ITCH is free and comes with the controller.. no need for upgrade or anything… Then you will get a free update as well to the new Serato DJ early next year when its released for twitch. So no need to spend extra money here 😉

Yes you can record your sets within the software… Feel free to ask if you need more info
