Well not only in Traktor… I use effects such as Echo, Reverb, Flanger and Phaser on Transitions sometimes.
The effects in Traktor are of very good quality, but it comes down to the following in my experience:
– Use as few effects on transitions as you can
– First try to use the EQ and then as the next resort use the F/X
– If you use the F/X do not hesitate to alter the parameters
– Do not try to “overdo” the whole thing
The rest is experimenting a lot with your transitions and effects. There is no real “howto” etc.
Of course you can look up several good blend DJs in youtube (I think Iceman has some nice blending videos with effects) and take that as a starting point. However I have never gotten good results in simply copying a blend. You need to experiment and incorporate the whole thing into your own style.
