I have not tried Promo only, so cannot comment on them.

DJ City is quite well known and works really well. They have a decent back catalogue and some blogger DJs post new stuff for different genres that is not the DJ City top 40 list, but are really good. Browsing is decent, the search function could be better and downloading there is easy. It is also a very cost efficient pool.

A little more expensive is zipDJ but their backcatalogue is HUGE. I have never found “older” songs (I mean that in a good way) anywhere else and their range of remixes, intros, acapellas and instrumentals is very good. Also all files come in 256k minimum and about 80% are 320k. The downloading could not be more easy with their zip function and basket system. However browsing and searching is a bit more complicated than DJ City and they cost a bit more.

These are the pools I tried so far. Hope my pointers help you a bit.

I’ve just started using Zipdj and I can say I’m very pleased. The cost is reasonable for access to unlimited downloads. You can register and get a 7 day preview before commiting to a subscription, this allows you to browse the catalogue and listen to the tracks but not download. One thing I don’t like is that once you’ve subscribe you can only preview a part of the track which can be irriating as I sometimes want to hear the break or chorus. As it’s subscription to unlimited downloads there no point in members recording a track so I don’t see why they don’t allow the members to play the full track.

Thanks for your input guys! I’ll take a look at ZipDJ…

It looks like they’re $135 for three months, where DJ City is $90 for three months.

Yes it is more pricey as DJ City. If you want “bang for the buck” then DJ City is more appealing. zipDJ is definitely more targeted towards highest quality and HUGE backcatalogue.

I used to use iDJ pool but after 3 mounths I just gave up. It was realy good for ceeping up with Bilboard hit list but but there are no prelisten so I had to download 3-400 remixes/Dance/club versions every week and then listen through them all to find maybe 10 that were ok to play. I now use DJ city and I do have to listen to several songs to find the gems but it’s not as stressing as listening to 400 songs every week.

Right now I’m on ERG Nu Music Traxx, but I’d like some more remixes. I’m getting a lot of radio edits. I love the videos I get from Promo Only. What’s their audio like? How does it compare to DJ City?

I guess I’m trying to decide whether to sign on with DJ City for audio, or upgrade to POOL Platinum.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Here a review I cam across

I use iDJPool and like the previous post said, there’s no pre-listen but the site has alot of advantages. I pay for the $50 version to get Billboard, Dance, Urban. The collection goes back about 3 years so there’s a ton of music. My system is to download the newest Billboard songs to the same folder so any duplicates are skipped. Each Genre has a weekly folder dated with new songs. These include Clean, Explicit, Radio, Club, Extended. So, I sort by Radio to filter out the various versions. Then download these (usually at work during the day). Then I listen to them on the commute home. It works very well for me.

DJ City … Though it lacks Belgian artists which are usually pretty popular over here.

DJ City all the way …… cant complain at £19 a month ($30) for unlimited downloads, all tracks at 320kbs
