Haha, I’ve seen that quite a few times. I don’t really go clubbing often, but about 85% of DJs I’ve seen are like that, they are BAD, VERY BAD. Which was also one of the things that made me want to DJ more. Tracks wouldn’t be in sync, they think using a flanger makes them some DJ God lol, and their loop rolls would fail very badly. But most of the crowd won’t notice/don’t care about this at all. Unless it’s some place where they come especially for the good music and DJs skills.

Although you could’ve at least asked the manager if it was cool if you came in during an off day and played an opening set for free or something. Just so that they see how good you are and also, they wouldn’t really be losing anything as their “Expereienced DJ” will still get to play his set.

And, sweet logo man, I can definitely see that as a sticker on the front of your laptop! 🙂

If you are reading this site, you are already on the way to become better than many other DJs 😉

The key is in understanding WHAT MOTIVATES managers to book people like that, and getting yourself in that position. Just like the best people don’t get promoted at work, rather those who know how to play the game, it’s unfortunately the same in DJing. But once you realise that, you can use it to your advantage.
