Ok thanks. I’m going to try and borrow someone elses newer laptop & see if I get the same problems. Luckily all the tags are still there & I have the original flac files so i’ll have to go through the process again but at least I can copy & paste the tags.

Interesting topic, in the last few months I’ve had no end of problems with iTunes tracks being corrupted after download. I’ve found that if the track is taking a long time to download i.e. several minutes, it is likely it will be playable in iTunes but not in mediaplayer or Traktor, others which download in a few seconds are fine. It appears to be random in terms of which cause problems. I’ve re-downloaded tracks on the laptop and on iPhone and have the same problem but it’s not always the same tracks which are corrupt. I’ve been through the usual checks, latest iTunes version, broadband connection is a steady 8mbps, even tried different devices; all with the same, random results. I’ve emailed Apple about this and simply got the tracks put back in the download queue, which mostly seems to fix things but as usual no real explanation of the cause just a lot of apologetic text.

I tried with a different laptop, synced my iPhone with the ‘convert higher bitrate to … Kbps’ setting & 3 tracks wouldn’t sync because they couldn’t be converted. Played them & the sound cut out midway through each track. I hadn’t opened them in Traktor yet so the problem is either iTunes or my transfer method which is over wi-fi through iTunes shared library. I’ve since tried by transfering the tracks onto an external hdd first then transfering to the laptop & I havn’t had any problems so far but time will tell!

Are the corrupted tracks MP3’s? When I found myself with the problems described I opened iTunes and converted the MP3’s to AAC files. Then I would open in Traktor and all was well again using the AAC version. Weird, I know. So far it’s only happened on a hand full of songs, but I’m afraid there are plenty more that have these issues, and I will not know until I’m ready to play them.

No they are Apple Lossless, I tried converting them to wav & aac but they either converted up to the corrupt part or not at all. I’ve never noticed a problem on my desktop PC in about 7 years of collecting music with 28000 tracks in mp3,aac & apple lossless formats. I had nothing but problems almost immediately once I transfered a few humdred tracks to 2 laptops but I think it was the transfer method, through iTunes shared library over wi-fi. I havn’t noticed any problems since transfering to an external hard drive then the laptop.

Just realised during a practise 1 of my apple lossless files has become corrupt even though I have transfered over with an external hard drive, & it worked before! I’m going to go thee mp3 route
