KeymasterWell the CDJ-350 are entry level and I actually do not really like them. Any decent DJ controller will feel better in my opinion. The faders in the Behringer mixers were always of very unstable quality, so you might get a good one or not, but it is betting your money….

Guesttheanks, terry, but the problem with better cdjs is the price, do you think the cdjs 850 are that much better? because at least in term of functions they seen not worth the extra $. do you think numark mixers are better than the ones from behringer?

GuestI’m always told that you need to learn the basics from a cdj, specially so you can train yours ears properly, isnt that right?

KeymasterYou can learn the basics on a DJ controller.
There is nothing a CDJ will offer you more (especially cheap ones).
Rather invest in a good DJ course, if you are on a low budget we have a free course on this site and if you want it all go for the fast lane course: http://djtips.co/fast-info
Shows you everything you need to know and all you need is:
– A laptop or computer (Windows or Mac)
– A DJ controller (which can be cheap like the mixtrak pro or reloop beatmix)
– A pair of DJ headphones (like Zomo HD-1200 or Reloop RH-10)
– Some sort of speakers (cheap M-Audio AV 40s will do)If you already have a laptop you can get away with a lot less than a single CDJ will cost you for all that in new gear.

ParticipantTerry is totally right.
There is no difference between a Controller vs CDJ and mixer…if you dont use sync…bigger wave forms and more information…but the basics of mixing do not change. If you think this is something that you really want to get into in the future then you can upgrade to a full CDJ setup

KeymasterIndeed, what Hee said. If you feel like upgrading in the future, you can switch to CDJs at any time, but then you know which ones to get, as you know what you expect from them (as you already learned the basics).

GuestThank you guys so much for the help. I liked that twitch controller, but i saw i is differentfrom the tradicional controllers. Do you guys would recomend it to someone trying to learn how to mix, how to figure the kick using only ears, etc or should i go more traditional?

KeymasterIf you want to learn it the traditional way and leave the door open towards CDJs I would get a more traditional controller.

KeymasterGood advise from Hee, those controllers are all excellent and cater a traditional workflow aswell as controllerism to a degree. We have reviews of all those, so check out our review section on the main site and make up your mind what would suit you best.

MemberPersonally when very first starting out, I would reccomend one of two things
1) Map your computer keyboard. You can learn all the basics of mixing really easily by doing this in the free version of VDJ, including finding out whether you really like DJing or not.
2) Buy a used mixtrack, not even pro, here you get all the basic features of a controller, for basically nothing, I even picked up a new one for about $120 when i was first starting. The investment is so minimal, but the experience gained from the product so worthwhile, plus the resale value is pretty much equal to the price you’ve paid for the controller, so it ends up being almost free.

Guestthank you guys so much, i liked all your sugestions, so, think im gonna get a cheap controller that i can use as a stant alone mixer, so i can leanr than upgrade to cdjs without needing to buy a mixer. gonna look for the reviews in the page and match with the ideal price in brazil. thank you guys!
