    Thank you Terry.

Just received my Mixtrack and now making decision whether to go with VDJ or Traktor Pro 2.

I tried the demo version of both program and torn between whether to get traktor which is a more professional DJs use or get VDJ which I feel that it more user-friendly but the price difference is huge. Any suggestion?

There is no better. And Traktor is in no way more “pro” than VDJ, it is simply different.
Traktor has a huge following in USA, VDJ has a great following in germany in middle europe and parts of asia. Serato is huge in many markets… I think every software caters to different workflows.

    Now to the price difference:
With VDJ you buy it once and for life you get free updates. Where in Traktor so far every major upgrade you had to pay for. So if you do this whole DJ gig longer then VDJ might actually be the cheaper solution. But nobody knows what the future will bring.
I myself went with VDJ as I find it offers actually more configurability and freedom.

Traktor which I know is highly customized to one needs but for a beginner like me, I do not know how to map my mixtrack which is quite confusing for me but for VDJ, I just plugged in the controller everything was mapped out nicely. And I seen reviews that VDJ is not very stable with all the things it can do, even Phil in the video course said VDJ is not very stable because of the things it can do.

So I trying to get the feel how should I approach in getting the software.

The only way you can royally make VDJ is unstable is by using VST files or plugins that are badly programmed. So I would only use plugins that got a good rating at the VDJ forums and that seasoned members like synthet1c are recommending.

Apart from that VDJ is very stable since version 7. I have DJed weddings that lasted for 12 hours with it non-stop without any issues. There are many professionals using it and it is one of the major players. Also the new Version 8 is around the corner (I guess will be released in late autumn or winter) and Version 8 will definitely be a killer from what we have seen so far (and of course any licensed user will upgrade to 8 for free).

Okay thanks for the recommendation. I think I will get VDJ when my budget allows me to get it
