    Those labels only buy the rights to sell the tracks in selected countries. Thats often why you will find the same song released under several labels.

    I believe there are ways around it by using a proxy service – never done it myself though.

    I was in a similar position recently, so (as I work in IT) I logged onto a remote server in the US and downloaded it from there!

    I was looking in to this the other day so I could access my netflix account in other countries. For like $7 a month you could get around the restrictions. Pretty good solution.

    Artists may have other deals in certain countries that prevent the sale, or they like to have different release dates in their home countries, Boys Noize for example always releases his tunes in Germany first.

    I’m running into this all the time from Hong Kong and not just for MP3s.
    If anybody can recommend a proxy service so another site thinks you’re coming from the US, that’d be great.

    It is quite insane. The legal BS which is designed to protect is one of the greatest reasons to go looking for illegal downloads.
