Memberhave a look at audio latency in the settings that may help cpu useage

ParticipantI have stuck with 2.0.3. Very minimal cpu usage. Works perfect. Every upgrade since has been a CPU HOG!

ParticipantIts strange how there used to be much more consistency with performance. Now it seems all over the map. Some peoples improved with 2.5 (for me, the lowest but not as low as 2.0.3) others got worse. I’m intrigued to know why theres so much more variance these days.

What spec is your laptop?

Do you have an S4 also? What is your laptop spec? What I find strange is that I can run TP2 without any issues when I have the S4 disconnected.

Memberrb75 it sounds like a latency issue with the s4 audio i managed to lower my cpu useage on my system by rasing the sample size to 192 giving an overall latency of 11.8 secs but if i had overall latency set to anything less the cpu useage was sky high.
i dont use an s4 though i have a reloop contour, also check the audio quality is set to 44100 otherwise traktor will be resampling everything into higher quality that the human ear and sound systems can handle but dont really make any difference

ParticipantRb75.. I have a toshiba satellite, Spec is an AMD dual core e350 1.6 ghz s(so 3.2ghz) 4 gig ram, sataII HDD.

Good Man!! All sorted!!!
I don’t know how this had happened but my settings had changed? Maybe something to do with the new version?
Adjusted settings as;
44100hz Sample Rate
128 samples Process buffer
4 ms USB bufferGiving an output latency 10.5ms which seems fine.
Out of interest, what latency is everyone else getting with there settings?
Thanks for everyone’s input.

I do have an S4. I have a mid 2010 15″ 2.66ghz i7 8gb ram Macbook Pro. I’m pretty sure I have my S4 latency set to about 8.7ms which is about as low as I can go for rock solid performance. I feel like its all driver related.

Well I know I have a lot lower spec than you, but after adjusting my settings I am pleased with the 10.5 latency I have, and at least the CPU is only reaching around 1/3 to 1/2.
All I can think is that the settings must have changed at some point during the upgrade to 2.5.July 27, 2012 at 7:21 pm #1008772Steelo
ParticipantI was reading that the software will use more cpu load when new features (such as the remix decks in this case) are added…whether you are using them or not…

ParticipantInterestingly I found 2.5.1 to be much better load wise than 2.5. I also noticed the difference with the S4 connected/disconnected too, with the load being worse when connected – but this is much better with 2.5.1.

Although I have now sorted my problem with high CPU usage, it still baffles me why the S4 has such a high demand for the processor!

Participant2010 13″ 2.4ghz 4gb ram Macbook Pro. I use 44100hz Sample Rate 256. I use the S2 and F1 and I noticed a big drop in CPU load after I downloaded 2.5.1.
