I’ll offer a little more info. I’m probably what would be considered an old-school DJ. Lots of funk, soul, disco, jazz, but I try to push myself into newer stuff as well. So my main attraction to Traktor is is not its features, it’s that it is becoming the standard and that it is cheap now. Mix Vibes Cross looks like it might fit that budget too…

As I understand it the CDJ 400 will only work with timecode, so you still would need a Traktor Scratch certified hardware and timecode CDs to work. But I am not a Traktor expert and this is just how I read it on the NI webpage.

Thanks for the help, Terry. Time to do a little more research.

    Hello Laechelt

As Terry said, you need an audio soundcard interface like NI audio 4,6,8,10 or other brand, and the timecode cd’s sold with traktor.
I’m on Traktor scratch pro with NI audio 8, the cable sold with Traktor 1 and timecode vinyls, but i have the cds too, it’s in the package

What you’re looking for is HID support for the CDJs, which the 400’s don’t have with Traktor (I’m not sure if they are capable at all?). I would definitely choose Traktor over something like Mixvibes. I personally use Traktor and find it to be the best for what I do (standard mixing but love playing around with a few controllers + use timecode CDs and vinyl). Native just dropped the price to get more market share so don’t let that worry you.

Yea man you might have to consider a new controller if you are going into traktor.
