More about the problem – If I lower the input gain in Traktor s/w to as low as -15db and adjust the hardware master gain knob on Kontrol S4 such that the controller gain is not clipping (no reds on the S4 meter), the external mixer gain shoots up and starts to clip full red. If you reduce the gain in the s/w or controller out, the external volume doesnt sound right and it sounds as if i am only playing bass – mids and highs are not too clear…
The work around that i am using which is not correct – using the trim and keep it at 12 o clock position on the Pioneer mixer and similar position for the master gain of the mixer. Use the external mixer’s channel EQ where I am connected and change the HIGH to 3 o clock, MID to 3 o clock and LOW to 9 o clock. Traktor s/w internal gain to about -15db to -12db and S4 h/w master gain to 12 o clock. This does the job for now but I would like to know the ideal settings for hooking up my S4 to a club mixer & PA.
Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.
