Participant🙂 Hi Hesseldunk Dj,
First of all; welcome to this forum!
I have visted your website, and it looks really good. (no typical “Dj website”, but alternative)
Good graphic designed, clear (no un-usefull info), and even a Press kitt to download too.
Very good work !My website is not so beautiful designed as yours, but i have all my mixes online there
& for everybody free to download. I,ve seen that you have linked your mixes on your page
with your Mixcloud account. It’s a pity that people who are interested in your music,
can’t download your mixes on Mixcloud. (or maybe you want it like this)By the way, my website is ; http://www.house-mixes.com/artists/Dj_Neonglass/

Wow great feedback, thanks! 🙂 I know mixcloud doesn’t allow users to download(maybe it is illegal? hehe). It would be great to put the mixes up for download but right now I don’t have enough space for it on my website host. But I see how it’s a good idea to let them download it so they can listen to it on their ipods and such!

Good question. I just thought it would look ok. Although when I created this domain, I had a pair of Denon DN-HS5500s and a Denon DN-X1100.

ParticipantAs far as equipment shots go ask yourself – “who is the target market for my website?”
I was at a web design seminar a few years back where they did an interesting comparison of print advertising – the iPod ads that were just coloured silhouettes of people dancing around, versus the Dell whatever-they-called-their-mp3-player ads which had a product photo and a list of technical specs. As we all know now, the iPod pretty much killed everyone else, and their advertising almost never showed an actual piece of equipment.
They then started talking about amusement parks (I was at the IAAPA show – a convention for amusement park operators) and how some parks focused on all the tech specs of their latest and greatest rides, while others focused on shots of families having fun and smiling (the photos could have actually been anywhere as there was little background in most of them). The logic for the amusement park business was that women tend to make the decision to go or not go, and that the photos showing happy emotions had far better traction with that demographic than the tech specs of some rides. Ditto for the iPod’s – Apple sold fun while Dell sold a piece of hardware.
This isn’t to say you should or shouldn’t do something on your website, just that you should know who your target market is and make sure your website appeals specifically to that group (if you do weddings – show happy couples, if you do nightclubs – show packed dancefloors and oh-so-many laser shots, if you are trying to be a go-to site for information – fill it up with content and lots of text).
The irony is that I don’t do enough of this on my own site – but I know what I’m evolving it to eventually be… Eventually…

I have to say I have a pretty static site: http://www.terry-42.com
as I do most of my stuff on facebook nowadays… but it is good to have an entry point, as I still have the website on my business cards.July 20, 2012 at 11:05 pm #1008299Hesseldunk.dj

Looks great to me! I found using tumblr for my blog was really great, although I personally wanted to keep my blog and my website a bit separated. But your take on using it as a website is interesting and I like it!

Mines just bs until I have it designed. I just wanted the domain name.July 21, 2012 at 7:24 pm #1008339VinnyBlanc
ParticipantHesseldunk. I’m really digging your layout, but I would change one thing. There is too much “TEXT” just floating on the background/wallpaper. I would make a box/banner of some sort at the top right above the navigation line. This would allow you to more clearly outline your name/logo contact info.
Keep up the great work.
