I honestly think VDJ LE is the worst LE software but the best Pro software with the most possibilities and the brightest future. But at the moment Traktor is better due to better effects implementation if that’s your thing “it’s most peoples thing”. But back to VDJ Pro’s benifits lol. Currently you can use full screen video, vst effects, incredibly powerful mapping scripts, skins, extra controllers of which a huge amount are native to the software. There is two plugins for controlling DMX lighting if your mobile and want a light show not just a bunch of lights flashing randomly. There is also text to screen plugins that allow your audience to send messages to your screen or you can set up things like voting polls for interactivity. You can also run karaoke to expand your business even further.
About the future there is a full remake of the software combining the best software for modification “djdecks” so hopefully the mapping and skins will go from being incredibly powerful to insanely powerful. If traktors remix decks appeal to you VDJ8’s sampler will take it a level further with 99 sample banks and most importantly the ability to group your own banks while traktor is locked to groups of 4 at the moment. There will be a mixmiester style song player that could automate an entire set if that’s your thing, but the real value I see in it is the ability to make quick mashups and play them as individual tracks, editing music videos or making your own mixable tracks from radio edits.
Traktor seems to be going in a direction of being locked to their hardware so they are pretty much out of the race if you don’t like the quality of their hardware “which I don’t” so the only other contender I can see is if serato open up their platform, but even if they do I can’t see it being as open as VDJ.
