KeymasterThis is like asking: Is coke better or should I order orange juice.
The VCI-380 is the highend Itch controller for 2-channels. You have to love Itch to invest in it and you have to get along with 2 channels then it is the clear winner. Your setup time will be minimal as Itch is pre-mapped.
The VCI 400 is suited for every software (so they say) and has 4-channels. However it is a setup controller. If you want to get the most out of it, you will have to map it yourself. You will have to invest A LOT of time to figure everything out and tune it to your liking. It may be a multi software controller, but it will NEVER run Itch in its current form. The DJ Intro it comes with, also is not suited for this controller. You will need to get at least Traktor Pro or VDJ Pro and then map everything from scratch. However if you are a controllerist and this is your thing -> Winner.
Those 2 controllers are in no way comparable to each other and both cater to 2 totally different DJing styles.

ParticipantJust so you’re aware you can download very decent VCI-400 mappings so its not a huge hassle to get set up. May require tweaking but depends on your situation.

Yes you can do that, but that would be like buying a 800 HP Ferrari and driving it in automatic mode all day (not that prolly many owners do that, because they cannot use the paddles… but that is a different story hehe)

Participantlet me give you detailed info to make my point clear, we like to use a lot of effects and samplers (we would like a controller to trigger them and do tweaks with them at the same time) and as yet we dont to manual beat matching as we have begin our career with digital djing and we are still at the beginner level so that is not a issue right now. and also please explain me if itch is really different than other softwares (just some key points). we were vdj djs have never used itch. we are more interested in itch because every other dj we see is using itch. to understand and to discuss with our local djs we prefer to have itch.

ParticipantEach major player in the software department, brings something different to the table when getting in to more advanced things but for straight out mixing they all work more all less the same way. They may just be laid out a bit differently. Itch is more bare bones than the other software. Good for regular mixing as its not cluttered with other features.

ParticipantI’ve been checking out the two and for me, I would be more inclined to purchase the vci-380. But at this point in my line of work, I am sticking with my Numark NS6 and my Vestax VCI-300. there is not that much more of bells and whistles for me to upgrade yet.

I think they could go neck and neck with each other. I am completely satisfied with the NS6 but I always do research on other controllers and vestax has been on top of their game with extremely good jogs along with better portability.
