Mixxx is the cheapest being free, then Mixvibes or Torq 2.0, VDJ Pro is pretty expensive as the software is around $300 but you can use any soundcard to cut down on cost or you can get the hercules bundle for around $400. Traktor scratch & Serato are the most expensive as you need to purchase their specific soundcard to use the program. eBay is always cheap though…

Not just the software, the entire setup. Cheapest possible

Mixxx and a used Maya-44 soundcard… your turntables, mixer and timecode of choice. It is by no means a good quality setup but it will get the job done for about $100.

It depends if you mean just the soundcard and software… or for the table’s, mixer, soundcard and software… if it’s for the latter you need to grow your budget to at least $1000 for a decent setup without making too many compromises accept on brands and age… and is it primarily for turntablism or mixing?

I am relatively new to the DJ scene, I would like to be able to scratch as well as use loops and FX. I am purchasing a midi fighter as well for the FX. I would like to spend 500$ or less on the turntables, sound card, software, and mixer.

Better start scouring eBay for bargins… look for Super OEM tables “google it for all the different brands” or Numark tt200,500, I can’t really recommend any cheap mixers for audio, but the stanton SA-3 is a solid little scratch mixer, or any two channel vestax or pre 2002 numark or stanton scratch mixer. I would forget about the midifighter as it will only work with traktor and your budget doesn’t allow it so the money would be better used on hardware.

I think you are going for the worst possible setup with a midi fighter and timecodes if your budget is 500…
if you want to really scratch, the turntables + slipmats will be over your total budget and a good scratch mixer (that you can actually use) will be AT LEAST 500.
