Its hard to say what caused the audio to cut. Possibly your amp switched off/blew a fuse as it was being overloaded. Mine doesnt switch off but drops the volume pretty dramatically if I push it too far for too long.
In terms of your audio settings…you’re coming in way too hot. 0 db is the max output before you affect the audio negatively so you need more headroom to allow for volume changes due to EQing, more than 1 track playing etc. Check out this article about the subject:

    http://www.digitaldjtips.com/2011/03/traktor-gain-sound-level-settings/

I would recommend everyone read this as its one of the most overlooked things in the DJ booth simply because people are not aware of the correct settings. The recommended by Native Instruments is -6 db or lower. It should be about the same for any brand of software. Just as a guide I actually have my Traktor software set to -10 db (with the additional headroom preference turned off as this is plenty) as the volume often starts to increase the longer you play.

I would also add that 6 o’clock for your EQs is a bit extreme. Try to keep them as close to 12 o’clock as possible. Its better to take away from the song you are mixing out than to go overboard with boosting the track you’re mixing in.

Lots of things could have gone wrong. crossovers could have fried from clipping. amp could of fried from voltage overload. Speaker coils may be also fried.

Appreciate the responses. I should clarify – at the time, I restarted itch and all was fine again. No speakers/amps were blown or fried. I have used everything since, with no problem. Obviously trying to figure out how to avoid this problem in the future….

Some circuits have an overload fuse thats self healing. (poly switch circuit).
Okay I reread the whole thread. Do you think the problem was a glitch in Itch?

Had the same thing happen to me a few years back (still using CDJs, so it was no software glitch) in the end the result was: the crappy Behringer PA amp had a heat switch, it did just overheat very slightly so it would switch off for just like the time you prolly needed to check Itch and then reboot it.
Now I am not using Itch myself atm, but reports indicate it is very stable and when it runs it runs.

I am an Itch user and i noticed that’s happened to me too lately. I’m a bedroom/whatever-room-my-daughter-isnt-destroying-right-now-hobbyist (gotta love two year olds!)

i was thinking it had more to do with me overloading the software on an admittedly older PC (dell xps m1530)

when it happened to me the sound stopped, but the track was still playing and it was almost as if itch forgot to load the rest of the track and went “crap hurry get the rest of the song up” and it would cut back in like nothing happened…

dunno how old your mbp is but im sure its gotta be more stable than my system!
