I have a few if you dont mind.

I am not understanding the differences in genres of genres. Like house music, then progressing house, techno house, est… does it really matter? how can i educate myself more about the difference?

Does it really matter whats used to mix when it comes between the cross fader and the regular faders?

Most importaint: Where or how can i learn the technical stuff? Like how to set up in a booth, what do different wires/connections do ect… Whats a good starting point? (thats my biggest issue atm)

I find with that it just takes some time, I used to have trouble hearing the difference but now it’s easy. It’s just a matter of listening to all of it, then you begin to understand what sets them apart and how they can work together.

This is a great one! It’s also one of my biggest doubts!
Would be great if Digital DJ Tips adressed some material specially regarding this topic. Would help a lot.

    Totally agree with this one!

The one I think is key is what equipment should be used when starting out (a topic I know is going to be widely subject to debate on this forum) and the key benefits of each system.

It stands for Digital Audio Workstation, in other words a computer software you use to produce music with.

Ah, I remember one night at this little place I used to play – it was slow, but there was a big group of drunk girls there, so I took the opposite approach and invited them all into the booth… at the same time.

So now there was absolutely nobody in the bar, and the manager walks around the corner and sees me in the booth stuffed to the walls with girls. She took a picture and hung it by the door. It was awesome.

    Ah, memories…

I’m fairly new to dj’ing also, so my main focus point has been beat-matching and mixing (without effects). What are some useful effects and what are good times to use them?

Okay, guess i got the silliest

What is bar? and how to count 4 beats (if it is 4/4) in a bar?
I know how to do, but i can’t never be able to explain

Things that you struggled to work out (or are struggling to work out). No question too basic, no question too silly. It’s to help with an absolute, absolute beginner’s guide. Think back to when you were considering digital DJing or had just started (maybe you are one of these things right now) – what do you most want to know that you’ can’t find the answer to?

    Dubstep and trance.Difference??
