You just told us about some tools that you can use to DJ in a bar, depending on what you want to do and which type of bar it is, depending on the audience that will be in that place.
However the whole thing is more about: Did you scout the location, do you know what music to bring, do you have a plan or even setlist, do you by any chance know some of the audience. How are your skills yet? Is your style of mixing appropriate or will you just blend songs into each other?…..
All questions much more important, than the tools you use.

thank you for the input terry, i am just wondering is that even a complete setup or do i need anything else? Is there anything better then a mixtrack pro for a complete beginner to buy to be able to dj bars/parties

i have no gigs lined up at all, i am just beginning to hand out mixes i have made and trying to get gigs.

I have thought a bit about that also, i have checked out the places where i want to dj and the scene.

I am mainly going to play remixes of hot top songs. i dont have the highest skills at all in mixing yet, i will probably be like a wedding dj blending song to song and messing with eqs.

Also i am looking at the mixtrack pro because it has a built in sound card and i dont know a cheaper route.

If anyone can give me a setup that would fit what im trying to do let me know.

Im not even that intrested in jog wheels i will be more of a eq/effects/loop/launching sounds type of dj.

The mixtrack pro will get you started and is really the cheapest you should go.
You will eventually outgrow the controller when you get more skilled, but as the mixtrack pro is highly valued, it has also a rather high resell value, so you should still get enough money when you upgrade to another controller.
Also the soundcard in the mixtrack is decent quality and will get you started.
If the venue has PA and lighting, you should be set, just make sure you have enough cables and adapters to plug into a PA, best is to ask what connectors they need and what cable length. Over time you will gather a lot of cables and adapters…

    Steve,
The MTP is a controller that i have recommended to quite a number of people ( i believe Numark should start sending me a fee for this).
I have used the MTP in the club, i have used it at parties and i currently use it for my radio shows. It is the best in it’s class which is the entrance level of controllers. It is also not expensive. It is sturdy as well, which helps as mostly i put mine in a rocksack when going to a gig.
I have not yet outgrown of mine. Why many people do so quickly is beyond me. If i change mine, it will simple be to add more buttons for some extras. It is also a controller that you can use with VDJ, Serato or Tracktor.
Hope this will help you make up your mind

I think you’re fine to DJ in a bar with this. I agree with gbadegesin – it could easily last you for years. Especially with Serato DJ Intro, you’ve got a really smart, neat and cost effective set-up.

If have an IPOD/mp3 player, bring that aswell with a quater-inch jack too rca cable aswell.. Just incase something should happen to the laptop (crash, power failure, spilled drinks etc.) that way u have a backup u can plug into the house mixer while u reboot. (provided they have a house mixer, if they dont have a house mixer u can plug the mp3 player directly into the house amplifier).

As for the mixtrack and laptop u should be fine for a small club..Provided that u have music on ur laptop ^^

i looked around for ages trying to find a mixer that was suitable for a beginner but also would be good enough to be able to use in a club, the one that i went for was the numark omni got it for around £180 i think of amazon

also you could try djing at a house party and see how that goes and if you feel comfortable going to a club after that

Yes, I think so 🙂 As long as you made your homework. Before you start djing in a venue (club or bar) be sure to check what people in those bar listens to. Are they a house crowd? a hiphop crowd? a trance crowd? then, select tracks that fits into their taste, you can add some toppings of your own into your set once in awhile. That way you’ll have your own signature.
