Key lock and harmonic mixing

I only DJ occasionally on my friend’s equipment and use Serato Scratch Live and am not completely familiar with all of the software’s capabilities but when I’ve tried to do this, the key lock function always sets back to the original key.

as far as i understand, when you key lock, you lock the track into its original key. however traktor (and probably other softwares too) has a function where you can directly change the key of a song without changing the tempo

Yeah you have to turn keylock on…then there is a knob which u can map…or just use with mouse and adjust the key of the song…that song will then stay in the same key until the end of the song.

From what little i know about keylock…a 6% change doesnt really change the Key…Personally i never use keylock unless i am doing a HUGE bpm shift…say 110 to 128 or something like that…+-5bpm and you wont really notice a difference in key.

As well i want to point out at this time…that using keylock will compress the audio quality of your song, i find that using keylock when not needed makes my songs sound “flat”
