Hey Alex, I have looked into this and as far as I am aware it is not possible because all those are, is one output split into two, nevermind software the hardware isn’t there for it. I have a pair of headphone outputs on my laptop and I was looking to do the same. So soundcard is needed I’m afraid 😛 Don’t know about your second issue 🙂

Thanx, Kuzzy… I appreciate it. I think I’ll be going with the Creative X-Fi plus the internal IDT HD Audio. I have posted this question on the Traktor and Numark forums, too. If I hear other thoughts and workarounds to this question, I’ll let you know.

    ooo… a development!

i took snapshots the audio devices on my machine. i see both the X-Fi Notebook and the IDT HD audio listed as devices. the logitech device is a USB soundbar that has a headphone output (will allow me to have “USB headphones when some headphones are plugged in).

even in Traktor, the X-Fi, IDT, and Soundbar are listed.

i’m gonna remove the USB sound bar and see if i can get the X-Fi and the IDT to play nicely in Traktor.

i’ll let you know how it goes…

    well… i’m done with this.

the overwhelming word is that this is not gonna work. the IDT driver and panel are buggy / doesn’t keep the settings. the settings don’t work on top of that. there are no hacks or workarounds out there that get this to work.

going with the easy solution is sometimes the best solution – i just had to hit my head against the wall repeatedly for that to sink in.

but, i did learn a lot about ASIO driver, latency, IDT, configuring Traktor Pro 2, my Dell and the resources out there in this community and throughout the web!

thanks for all of your feedback!

    Man I feel your pain.

Not sure what the other thread says in detail, but I have done something like this for shows. Its dangerous. The IDT is buggy as hell. There is a pretty cheap solution if you’re willing to spend a few bucks ($50?). Get one of those 5.1 sound blaster USB devices. It has an RCA channel for output and an 8th inch channel for rear speakers and sub. If you route it correctly then you can use your rear speaker output as the headphone jack. This gives you stereo on both outputs independent of each other and you don’t have to blow $200 on a traktor card. Whats surprising is the latency is really low if you use ASIO4ALL.

I use this at clubs. It actually runs quite nicely. Its pretty responsive and it puts out a surprising amount of power.

Sorry to hear you didn’t get anywhere but I had the same result when first trying to have a proper DJ set up with just a laptop, end of the day a little cash does have to be spent 😛
and honestly I have done small parties without any headphones at all, simply using traktors waveforms and effects, my knowledge of the music and good old intuition 🙂 all the best! K.
