I have to admit of all the new gear, those Denons are the most attractive to me too.

yep they all send midi or HID messages to software… Itch is locked… Traktor doesn’t support controllers that compete with their own unless they get paid… Virtual DJ support almost everything and has the tools to make the program anything you want… VDJ FTW!

I should get that quote made into a die-cut label and stick it on my MBP.

PS – I do like the Denon 3900’s. If they had added a few more cue point buttons and a larger display that accurately showed waveforms, it would have been a grand slam…

That’s why Denon came out with ENGINE.
It will allow you to play music files directly from your laptop.

Outside of preparing my tracks, I’d like to get away from using my laptop. With a larger display, I’d be able to that.

Trouble is, how much would you be willing to pay for that display. Sure Denon, or anyone else, could make 6 or 8 inch display screen, but that could easily add another $400.00 + to the price of the unit.

400$$$??? 400$ +??? So i guess nowadays when you buy an i-phone or an ipad you are only paying for the “Screen-Estate”… LOL
Sorry if i sounded rude, that was not the point.

things aren’t priced on cost they are price based on percieved value, so in the case of adding a screen it may cost $10-20 extra to manufacture but because people will want it more the price will go up regardless, but another problem is that adding extras means the company has to create operating systems so the screen works, it’s much easier to create an interface for a computer and let software company’s deal with supporting the hardware.

Although I do think as usb 3.0 gets more common and the hardware and software devs understand how to impliment it we will see a lot of midi controllers with screens displaying information from your software, it never happened with usb 2.0 because it’s not fast enough to send tight images without any lag.
