    I just want to confirm that this isn’t a XLR vs RCA which is better thread?

    Is your problem that your monitors only have XLR and 1/4 jack input and your soundcard only has RCA outputs?
    You may want to look into cords like this…

    I have RCA outputs and balanced XLR outputs both on my NS6 (which contains my soundcard)
    I opted for the XLRs (not only because they came with my KRK monitors) because they are better (whether you can hear the difference or not)

    Thanks you have solved my puzzle haha. I was was just concerned that i was going to make the wrong decision and regret it in the long run as i didnt know where to start regarding cables etc. I’ve found it a bit of a mine field trying to get information like this as stupid as it may seem. I guess you just have to know where to find it. I’m going to purchase these as soon as i get home. Thanks again

    one other quick question..
    i need a male xlr to rca for my interface to monitors. Do i need xlr for 2 x rca (red and white) or will just the one be ok? As i have 2 inputs on my interface. thanks

    You need two XLR -> RCA cables one for right channel and one for left. (red white)
