To answer your other question, most DJing software supports additional hardware to be used with the controller and laptop. Here are some typical ones you may have seen. The end goal for many is to use/touch the laptop as little as possible while playing. These controllers sometimes offer controls that aren’t natively on the controller or special cominations of effects/loops all mapped to one button. It could however be a button for something as simple as a start/stop record or sample drop. I hope this helps and I am sure others can elaborate further.
