Welll… If you are just starting out and you want my recommendation, I would say go with a passive set of harbingers. I had the HA80s for the last 10 months and then pawned them for almost as much as I bought them. They are really good reliable speakers, but if you buy them new make sure to upgrade the cables.
If however, you are planning on doing some larger gigs, you are looking for room filling powerful speakers, however, I would recommend something powered such as the Gemini RS-412 or 15s, but if you really want the most bang for your buck, I would say the alto TS 112a (or any 10″ versions) will do the job just fine for you. I recently got mine and they rock… and step… and groove… everything inbetween.
I would say the only criteria that really matters is the RMS per speaker. that’s going to be a good indication of the volume and throw you are going to get with each speaker. And, if you can, go with powered (not passive as I can see you have with your Rokits) they’re usually better quality and you don’t have to worry about sending power through cables, only signal.

Wow! A lot of good information. Thanks a lot and I will certainly look into the options you told me about. I had to research what you meant by passive but I’ve googled it and now it makes sense. Thanks again Truthedeejay
