    M-Audio Fast Track Pro:

I use that in my studio and it is great value for money IMO.

Would the Numark Dj IO be the same?

Or would the Native Instruments Audio 2 DJ Sound Card do the same job?

The NI A2DJ would do the job but not with the same good soundquality.

I don’t know about the Numark, There is not enough info on their site…..

I suggest you contact a dealer and ask them…..

Something to bear in mind… if this is for DJ’ing, it can be useful to have a soundcard with a reasonably “hot” output, especially if you might be taking your kit into clubs.

The M-Audio Fast Track Pro unit quotes a max line level output of +1.8dBV. The NI Audio 2 has a much “hotter” max output of +7.4dBV, so might be a better bet for club use, although it has less output options.

    You might also find

useful. Phil liked the Mixvibes unit; I couldn’t find any output specs for that one. The Reloop Play unit quotes a reasonable +7.5dBV output so looks good to me. I’ve never used any Reloop kit though so I couldn’t tell you how well built etc it might be.

ye i actually saw the mixvibes package including software for $139 , so the mixvibes soundcard would work?
I will only need to map the Numark Mixtrack manually because it hasn’t got any pre-set mappings for it.

You should be able to get any multichannel soundcard to work.

I’ve just seen your other post about owning a Mixtrack. I’m not sure how much djing you’ve done.. if you are trying to started and see if djing is for you, you could start off with a splitter cable. There’s another good article on the main site that explains how these work:

A nice cheap option to get you up and running.

As Phil says in the article, this isn’t a permanent solution for the pro DJ, but it’s a great starting point for new DJs.

NI Audio 2 DJ is a 2-channel soundcard, not 4-channel.

    +1 on NI 2

FYI: no studio soundcard can be as “hot” as NI’s. The reason being all studio-aimed soundcards follow the studio devices’ specs while NI follows the specs of Pioneer CDJs which are hotter than the typical studio specs.
Sound quality: dont buy the marketing gimmicks – anything more than 44.100hz 16bit is overkill for DJing – unless you can present to me ONE music file which you plan to include in your everyday DJ sets recorded and handed to you in a format higher than that. ALL commercial music (with the exception of rare recordings or special editions of recordings in DVD audio) are mastered to a 16bit 44.100hz uncompressed music file. Thinking that a music file you have sounds a better on a 48.000hz soundcard than a 44.100hz soundcard is like thinking that converting a 128kbps mp3 to a 320kbps mp3 gains quality.

On a practical note DJ io has RCA and TRS outs
