MemberHello William
Just wondering, does it have to be an online store? Have you ever thought about the possible networking opportunities
that could be gained by walking into a physical store? For example, I buy EVERYTHING from my local music store, in person. Why? Even though they do online orders, I prefer to walk in an talk to the staff there. By doing this, I am made known to the staff as a return customer, and they do their best to look after me, even giving me discounts. (for example, almost everything I have bought from them is 20-30% cheaper than the storedj prices). Also by making myself known to the staff, they know I take my DJing seriously, and as a result, the staff (who are DJs themselves) have given me networking oppurtunities who have gone on to giving me gigs.
For this reason, I buy almost nothing online!

So do you buy MP3s in a local store??

Ouch. Okay, correction then, I buy everything gear-wise from my local music store. I think there may be some confusion about the term “music store” as I refer it to musical equipment and instruments, not actual music. The lesson here is if you can, network!
However, I do occasionally buy CDs from a physical store, as the staff there always have great insight on their music across a wide range of genres. See http://www.78records.com.au/
But in this day and age, I see the music store (equipment) as the record store of yesteryear, where the regulars and staff know each other, and network as a result. I’m just trying re-iterate the point of network, network, network! It’s gotten me places, so I’m just trying to spread the love! 😀

MemberBoarding school. Ouch. So glad my folks kept me at home in the country. Even though the town was a hole!
Another good way to order would be ask your music teacher for the subject if you could put an order in with their stuff, as they get good educational discounts. Also pays to have the music teachers on side, thats how I could play at school so often 😉
Failing that, check out http://www.kosmic.com.au/ – these guys are my local plus they do online orders, and will happily beat any price you can throw at them 😀

They have physical stores in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. I live in Canberra, so I’ve been dealing with them via Internet and sometimes phone. The staff (in the Mel and Syd stores at least, don’t think I’ve talked to Bris) are the most helpful and friendly guys I’ve ever talked to. I’m not even exaggerating, they are just so awesome. They’ll give you tech support, advise you on what sort of gear you might need (they saved me from all kinds of trouble by suggesting I buy some some TS cables as well as RCA, which I hadn’t even considered). They were more than happy to replace my headphones when one side randomly died mid-use, I just mailed them up and they mailed a working pair back.
10/10 for them!
