I’ve loved trance since the late 1990s. I still like to make mixes with all the new energetic big room trance that comes out. I’ll never grow tired of it.

Did Tag (Alan Taggart ) do a few of the deck duties there, i aint seen him to ask since 3 Novembers ago at the Wired gig with Steve Vertigo and Tony Ross?
    My memories proper hazy

And on the same note of hazy memory, i never realised another mate i’ve known for years DJ’d the revenge and the Hoddlesden raves until i reminisced about a police raid on the Egerton Road… “Err, i was playing that night” :lol

Back in the late 90s and into the early 00s, Crobar was the spot for trance and techno. When they decided to get out of the “dirty warehouse” look and get all “Miami”, the sound got all cheesey douchebag house.

Vision Nightclub in Chicago gets some great trance headliners, but not always the high-energy melodic stuff. Kyau and Albert came to play one night and I was disappointed in that they played all prog, rather than the energetic trance I’ve known them for.

Seems to me that high energy trance is somewhat a thing of the past, there aren’t many producers nowadays that still do the whole uplifting trance thing. Aly & Fila come to mind as a few of the only remaining DJ’s of that style… I’m sure there are many more around, but not with any sort of commercial success.

As long as the melodic sounds stay in music, im not too picky about what genre its in. At this point its starting to look like prog house is gonna be the most melodic, while trance is seeming to get a more tech/hard dance feel to it.

At least thats how I feel.

There’s loads of energetic trance being made even now…but unfortunately it has become formulaic. So you’ll hear 10 well-put-together tunes that sound solid, but aren’t much different from one another.

I will agree more “housey” styles of trance are popular, as we see even big events like Sensation turn their back on their trance roots and the top producers have gone more “house”. Yet you look at Vandit Music and it’s a lot of great energetic trance.

It’s just more underground now. The downer though is that the crowds/fans only seem to like it if it’s coming from a major headliner. It’s still hard for newer guys to really break in.

I have robot ears. If it can be classified as EDM, I generally like it. Be it house, trance, hardstyle, dubstep, electro, etc. I’m interested in producing all of it, although I must admit dubstep is the most fun to work with. I’ll always have a soft spot for trance though. It’s what first got me wanting to produce. Start from something simple and build and build until you’ve got something that makes the whole place put their hands in the air. It’s great :D… IMO trance is the most versatile of the electric genres. It can have so many different emotions going on in it.

I love trance and progressive house man. They’re crazy! It makes me dance and jump around more than electro actually. I been listening to Signalrunners work and “corrupted” is a favorite. I also love Above and Beyond’s works. They combine beautiful melodies with hard vocals and it’s crazy man! Ferry Tayle, Nitrous Oxide, those are the kinds of songs I like

Think my favorite Signalrunner track at the moment has to be Meet Me In Montauk… its definitely less trancey than corrupted… but still has an awesome vibe. Its quite similar to “The Girl From Copacabana” by Mike Mikhjian & John Caza, which is definitely another one to check out.

I really liked Orla Feeney’s “Bittersweet”. The synths are amazing and the whole production came together nicely.

No. That tumblr page is more or less an extension of my website. It goes back to the articles I wrote on how to succeed, when you go beyond gigs and promote yourself online. I didn’t want to bog down my regular blog with short posts and links to other stuff, so I use tumblr to post short 2-min clips of tunes I am into as well as links to new articles I write and articles/sites I come across that I think are cool. Every Friday I only post YouTube clips of old school music (Old School Friday).

The benefit is it’s another line in the water. Some people who surf tumblr or just the web in general can come across this, possibly get into it, and there on the right side are links to other social media outlets of mine as well as my website.

Since I’m not into producing music, content creation is a stronger point for me.
