Yup, “blag” is still common. 😀

My biggest coup was getting to DJ at Privilege in Ibiza for Xtravaganza, back in the day – we played twice there for them and took a load of clubbers from our residency in Manchester, England with us! Great times. Biggest club in the world at the time, DJ box right in the middle of the swimming pool.

As I like to run marathons to keep fit, I make it a point to run them in emblematic cities – have done Stockholm, New York, London, Berlin (as a spectator – broken ankle caused me to pull out of that one), Barcelona, Prague and, for some reason, Lanzarote! Looking to add a few more ASAP.

Apart form that a visit to Cape Town and tour of South Africa including a game reserve, plus a memorable Nevada/California road trip involving a face-to-face experience with a wild bear are personal highlights.

Would love to visit India and Japan.

Went to Australia. Beautiful countrysides. Honestly, the best way to visit a country is to drive through the countryside. Drove from Sidney to Melbourne in 3 days. With Canberra as a pit stop. The scenes were beautiful. In Melbourne, we travelled to the Seven Apostles. Honestly, a beautiful country altogether.

Indonesia is also a beautiful country. I can’t remember the specific spot I went to though. It was a town above sea level so it was cooling and nice. People are beautiful, scenes and the goods there are cheap. I love it there. Can’t stand the traffic though

Forgot – I cycled from Havana to Santiago in Cuba and did the trail to Machu Picchu in Peru a few years back… Jeez I’m getting old if I can’t remember “unforgettable” experiences like those two!

Living in Tampa right now but finishing up my Spaniard citizenship. Traveled there in March to visit my family and absolutely fell in love with Madrid. I want to move there by next year and look for employment there (not as a DJ =P i’m majoring in Aviation Administration). Only thing that sucks is that employment over there is worse than here in the U.S. 🙁

The last big travelling I did was to go to 17 countries across South East Asia and South America – Tibet to Brasil, finished with the carnival in Salvador 😉 Also been to some places in Europe like France and Netherlands, and lived in Belgium for a year. Last year I did a trip to Pakistan from the south to the north and parts of Kashmir. If I get a chance I would go do central america or eastern europe next, I’d also love to go back to live in Brasil for a while.

I usually take a big trip once every two years. But the best recent one was a month in East Africa in a low impact war zone (my second time in a war zone – I was in central Mexico during the Chiapas revolution). I was there for work in 2007 researching the Lord’s Resistance Army and their conflict with the UPDF. I lived in IDP camps in Northern Uganda. Traveled with Child Soldiers into Southern Sudan. Ghosted WFP trucks through the bush. That sort of thing. It was amazing. Some of my photos from the trip made it on to the BBC website and there’s an interview on World Vision Radio where I talk about being in the conflict zone and hanging with the child soldiers (a ceasefire had just been implemented and the adult leaders had abandoned the kids to go the peace talks in Juba). I won’t post the link here since we’re not supposed to self-promote, but I’m very proud of that trip. If anyone’s interested in East African politics you can find it easy enough.

But as far as being relevant for this blog, I was passing through Kampala on my way to the Sudan border – I flew into Entebbe – and while in the capital I went to one of the music stalls and grabbed a ton of Ugandan Hip-hop on a flash drive. Some of it was absolutely amazing. Of course it’s all piracy there, there are no real music stores, so I didn’t get any data to go along with the tracks and they’re all at a terribly low bit-rate, so though it was one of the deepest digs for music I’ve ever done, it’s all pretty useless for DJing, sadly.

The next trip is either to Azerbaijan or Cambodia!

I really didn’t travel in my childhood or even as a teenager. Family just never had the money.

When I became an adult I went to NYC…two times. Phenomenal city and an interesting culture/vibe. I wouldn’t live there, but it’s one of those places everyone must see once. On a DJ end, I got to see (not play at) Sound Factory and Twilo. Even funnier was that I was there that night when Twilo got shut down permanently by the NYPD. Also got to shop at Satellite Records (when I was using vinyl). Other highlights was seeing the WTC three months before it came down, and seeing CBGBs before they closed up shop.

The travel bug hit. From that time I ended up going to Montreal, Greece (2 times), Slovakia (2 times), Prague, Vienna, and San Francisco.

Only time I got to DJ abroad was last year in Slovakia. Played at SubClub in Bratislava. Great place.

I’d really love to travel to NYC. It just looks awesome and the longboarding scene there is supposedly huge! I’d also like to see the Vatican and Italy. Maybe a little of Turkey and the Mediterranean.

Italy is a big one on my list. Not sure how I want to do it though…like go once and see Rome, Naples, etc…and then a second time to see Venice, Florence, and Milan.
