5 Rules For Playing Music In Public (For Non-DJs)

That feeling when you're out in a restaurant or somewhere else you can't leave, and the music repeats - and you realise know exactly what music you're going to be listening to for the next hour...

We’re all about training for DJs and DJ/producers… but sometimes (let’s be honest, lots of the time), music in public is played by non-DJs. The soundtrack in your gym. The music in your favourite restaurants. Clothes shops, hairdressers, hotel receptions… you name it. And to be charitable, a lot of the time the poor souls put in charge of hitting “play” in such places make a real mess of it.

So here, we discuss the five rules for playing music in public not for DJs, but for NON-DJs. Please share this with anyone you know who’s you feel could do with a gentle nudge in the right direction, and also, share your experiences of “music played in public” (good and bad) by non-DJs below. Finally, if you have any extra rules, again – let us know in the comments!
