DJs who want to move into making music have a lot to figure out (one of the reasons why our beginner -focused Music Production For DJs course does so well) – but Akai Professional and Splice hope to make it all just a bit easier, by making Splice’s high quality royalty-free samples available right inside Akai Professional’s music production workflow.
Akai’s hardware includes the super-popular MPC Live, MPC X and MPK Mini devices, plus the new Fire FL Studio controller, and meanwhile Splice has made huge waves as a one-stop shop online for music producers looking to subscribe to a source of high-quality samples.
With Native Instruments now owning its own sample platform in sounds.com, and of course being a hardware producer itself, it is clear that this type of consolidation – of offering “everything under one roof” to producers – is something the industry is seeing as increasingly important.
We won’t have to wait too long to see how this is likely to work out for Akai Professional and Splice, though, with the companies promising to reveal more information about their partnership in the weeks ahead, including sneak peeks of upcoming products and integrations.
